"Diabolo" 2004

Cordula Prieser

Ensemble of sculptures, fibre reinforced plastic, two juggler sticks, each 4 meters high, one diabolo, length of two meters, diameter 1,5 meters.

In the inner courtyard of the Institute for School and further Education in Bremen, the artist Cordula Prieser erected an oversized diabolo, a children’s toy. The courtyard is not open to public but visible to everyone through several windows.

As a toy it equally inspires adults, teenagers and kids. As a sculpture it refers to that fact that there is no contradiction between playing and learning.
