"Kleiner Roland („little Roland“)" 2003

Thomas Schmalz

Casting of the original sculpture „Der Kleine Roland“, bronze

The sculptur is a casting of the little Roland which is located at “Neuen Markt” in Bremen.

The sculpture was sponsored by a citizen’s commitee „1. Neustädter Bürgerkompagnie” as a fountain figure in 1737.
In the course of the project “Moving the City” in 2003, the Bremen-sculptor and caster Thomas Schmalz was commissioned to erect a plaster cast of the little Roland vis-à-vis the Roland on the market place.

Later the plaster cast find its place in front of the local exchange. In spring 2007 the little Roland was casted in bronze.
