"Sansibar" 2007

Leni Hoffmann

Sculpture on ground, ceramics, colour, about 80 meters rolled-in-grooves made out ceramics

The artist’s artwork is a blazing, coloured fountain, which remind the viewer of a painting on the black ground.

“Sansibar” consists of plastically designed, colour glazed pottery groove, which is 40 cm wide and 12cm deep and imbedded in the black asphalt. Water floats through each branch of the sculpture, drains off and floats back.

Between draining off and floating back, the water gets cleaned by a biological clarification and an ultraviolet lamp, which clarifies every possible contamination.

The artwork by Leni Hoffmann artistically refers to Bremen, as the city of water.
